About this deal

Control your devices– Turn your devices on/off from anywhere in the world through the TCP smart app. Get a couple of these and you have a cheap and efficient way of automating your home to respond to changes in the weather.

This is similar to Hey! products – the Hey! Smart Power Bar, for example – that also use Smart Life. No you don’t, if you lose your internet connection the system will still work, but you won’t be able to control if from your phone via the internet if you are away from the location the device is set up at. Not all smart tech needs to be born smart. A smart plug can transform anything into a smart device that you can control from your phone. Buy one of these and you can integrate any plug-in appliance into your smart home system. This means you could switch on a vintage lamp with a voice command. You can also select a convenient day to receive your delivery by choosing a named day delivery (delivery on working days only).

The futuristic Eufy MACH V1 Ultra is the first self-cleaning cordless mop to include a steam cleaning function TCP Smart lights can last up to 15 years*. TCP confirms that each LED bulb is more economical as it uses 80 percent less power than a traditional incandescent bulb. You also have the option to automate by weather conditions and device status or to set up a one-tap system that has your plug switch on at the same time as other smart products (so you can, for example, turn on all your lights at once).

Please note that during particularly busy periods, it may take a little longer to receive your delivery and our carrier may attempt to deliver to you on a Saturday. Best pizza oven 2023: top outdoor and indoor pizza ovens for your patio, garden, balcony or kitchen Great for those who don’t have / want Alexa etc controlling their devices, but I think they are compatible with Alexa if you wish to combine them. The first thing to note with the Philips Hue is that it has an A++ energy rating. This means that, while plugged in, the smart plug itself uses very little power. But more importantly, this is one of the best options if you're looking to set up smart lighting around your home due to the multitude of settings and features available. Energenie has a range of smart plugs, but most of them require an expensive hub that connects to your router. This Wi-Fi Smart Plug, however, doesn’t. That’s great news, as it will talk directly to your router via Wi-Fi. Humax is better known for its Freeview set-top boxes, but has branched out into smart home devices, starting with this smart plug.

Nevertheless, such a command is useful. For example, in my best uses for smart plugs article, one option listed is for charging tools. With a Tap To Run, you can set the plug to come on and turn off automatically when the batteries are charged. You can also give the impression you are at home by setting time schedules for your plugged-in lamps to switch on whilst you are away. Features and Benefits This TCP plug is an excellent option with pretty much everything you’d want in a smart plug at a very good price point. The Hey! smart plug is affordable, practical and easy to use, with no hub required. It’s the same hardware as the Humax, but the Hey! app is different.

It has two forms of timer: the usual type that sets it to switch on or off on a schedule, plus a countdown timer. The countdown timer means it can turn a device (such as a portable heater warming you while you’re snoozing) on or off after a certain amount of time. Automations are basically the same, only you set a different Condition to run them. Conditions can include outside influences – when the local weather drops below a set temperature or humidity, for example, or at a specific time (schedule), or when you leave or arrive at a location. The latter geolocation tool only works with a single device, so isn’t much cop for multi-user households. TP-Link has added a new feature to its updated mini smart plug, the Tapo P110. It can monitor the energy used by any device you plug in, in real-time, in an easy to view and understand format.

Great value, easy to use Great value & easy to use, I have 4 of these and use them on lamps across my house. They are perfect for making my home look occupied when I’m not there. I use them ad hoc but it’s great to be able to set them on a timer through the app if on holiday or somewhere without internet access. Or if you just don’t want the hassle of turning on lights each day as it starts to get dark. It's inexpensive though, and it works with Alexa and Google Assistant, so you can operate it in conjunction with other smart home kit that's not made by TCP. If you do own TCP lights or cameras or whatever, then obviously it makes more sense to get a TCP plug too. Another point to note is that the MiHome Wi-Fi Smart Plug supports 13 amp devices, whereas some of the cheaper offerings are limited to 10 amps – or less. Smart controls can make it easier to manage electrical devices and lighting to suit your home. This can help reduce your home's energy consumption. You can turn the switch on and off via the Apple Home app in iOS 10, or using the Eve app. There’s a button on top for manual control as well. Some smart plugs will also offer energy use and cost monitoring. Devices are often left on standby when not in use for large parts of the day, and standby use accounts for up to 16 percent of the average electricity bill. With a smart switch you can dramatically cut down on this wasted standby time. It’s worth noting, however, that you can’t use it with the Kasa app, so it isn’t ideal if you already have TP-Link smart plugs or other smart devices.
