Batman Beyond, the futuristic animated series, will be remastered for a Blu-ray release that is scheduled to hit store shelves on Oct. 29, cast members and creators revealed at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday. Formerly Dr. Kirk Langstrom, Man Bat was a zoologist who specialized in the study of chiropterology who developed an extract intended to give humans a bat’s sonar sense. He tested the formula on himself because he was becoming deaf. The extract worked, but it had a horrible side effect: it transformed him into a hideous man-sized bat. Funko Pop Batman Animated Series Wave 2 offers figures for Clayface, Bane, Catwoman, Scarecrow and Phantasm. Also included is a robot version of Batman along with an unmasked chase variant, averaging 1:6 boxes.

The new limited edition set will include the complete series, as well as a chromed Batman Beyond Funko Pop, new featurettes, the Return of the Joker animated movie, and lenticular art cards. All 52 episodes of the series are included, but only 41 are fully remastered; the other 11 were irreparably damaged in the intervening decades, and had to be “uprezzed” from older files.
