About this deal

While there are more sophisticated robot lawn mowers like the WORX range, for example, the LawnMaster L10 is a simplistic version that still does an amazing job of cutting the lawn! I ran the two side by side on my own lawn and the results were very similar. So if it’s simplicity you’re after then I’d say go for the LawnMaster L10, without a doubt. I allowed the lawn in my front garden to grow to around 60mm, despite having given it the first cut of the season the week before testing the LawnMaster VBRM16. For this, I used the 40mm cutting height but there are five options to choose from between 20mm and 60mm which I thought was more than adequate. While the LawnMaster VBRM16 is a pretty simple piece of equipment in the scheme of things, it does have a good number of features, especially when you consider the low price. You can see these features in more detail in my video review but let me talk you through them now. Height Adjustment Users who have some free time on the weekends might not look forward to spending a high amount on a lawnmower. On the other hand, if you hate lawn maintenance, then there are three models that you can try because of their reliability and high-quality performance. Ability to move over inclines paths is another function you should consider, especially if you have a lawn with lots of hills and slopes. Most of these tools can handle slopes up to 15 degrees, but some of them can mover 35 degrees as well.

SAFETY: Using the camera and ultrasonic sensors the mower detects and avoids obstacles such as garden furniture. A child safety key prevents unauthorised use, and sensors stop the blade when the mower is lifted. The charging station is oriented so that the terminals are on the left and open end on right (as viewed from the centre of the lawn)

For large lawns with the complex layout: Mcculloch ROB 1000: ROB 1000 is a hard-working mower that needs 50 minutes of charging and is capable to cover lawns up to 1000 m2. Its easily manages slopes up to 25 per cent of 14 degrees and never compromise with the grasses around the obstacles. The good news is; it can mow your lawn with perfect results even if you are not around. It’s designed to cut up to 100m² and has a 16cm cutting width. Combine this with the four hour run time, which I’ll talk more about shortly, and you’ve got something that’s going to deliver an even cut without running out of power.

Key specs – Size: 425 x 350 x 220mm (WDH); Weight: 6.6kg; Cutting height: 20-60mm; Maximum lawn size: 100m²; Maximum incline: 35%; Replaceable battery: Yes You also need to lay a boundary wire around the edge of the area you want your robot to mow. This is usually supplied on a reel, is connected to the charging station at both ends and carries a low voltage, which the mower uses to detect when to stop and turn around. You can bury this wire, or peg it down and eventually it will bed down into the grass.

You can maintain a small lawn using an electric mower or even a manual push variant. After all, how much it could to cut the grass from a small area? But, what if your lifestyle is very hectic? What if you cannot manage the time to maintain the lawn when required? In such situations, you need a well-built robotic lawn mower that can take this burden away from your shoulders. However, the downside to not having a charging station is that the lawn mower won’t automatically return to it. Some more advanced models will return when the battery is low and many have rain sensors so they’ll return when they detect rain. With the LawnMaster VBRM16, you will need to keep an eye on the weather and if the heavens open, you’ll need to go out and bring the mower in. Control Panel, Setup and App When the update is finished (this may take several minutes), the mower will beep continuously. The flash drive can now be removed. The mower will beep twice indicating that the software update is complete. Make sure that the battery indicator is green and has sufficient charge to perform the software update. Shifting to robot lawn mowers is the need of the hour, especially if you cannot spend extra time on lawn maintenance for some reason.
