About this deal

The 300 pages removed from the A Game of Thrones manuscript served as the opening of the second book, entitled A Clash of Kings. The Atlantic 's Adam Serwer regarded A Song of Ice and Fire as "more a story of politics than one of heroism, a story about humanity wrestling with its baser obsessions than fulfilling its glorious potential", where the emergent power struggle stems from the feudal system's repression and not from the fight between good and evil.

This series is a beautifully written adventure and I can wholeheartedly say I liked this book much better than the first because I could appreciate the story more once I knew how to navigate the genre. In the third book, the War of the Five Kings escalates and famously includes the Red Wedding (which on Game of Thrones, almost included Martin himself) . A Clash of Kings is longer and even more grim, but Martin continues to provide compelling characters in a vividly real world.

Enraged when his brother Renly also makes a claim for the throne, Stannis chooses to besiege his own home castle of Storm's End to force Renly to march east and treat with him. Robb Stark, declared King in the North, battles to avenge his father's execution and retrieve his sister from Joffrey's court.

Her dragon Drogon burns down the House of the Undying, sparking the enmity of the Qartheen and encouraging Daenerys to leave the city. Printing the book in "microtype on onion skin paper and giving each reader a magnifying glass" was also not an option for him.The second book also devoted the last 25+ pages of the book to the house genealogies, colors, sigil, and mottos….

mammoths, white walkers, wildlings, giants, wargs–evil is mounting an army to march through the Wall. My personal fav characters are Tyrion, Arya, Bran, and Jon Snow (though I think the series is ultimately about Daenerys Targaryen). In May 2019, he reiterated he had not started writing A Dream of Spring and would not do so before finishing The Winds of Winter. In his widely acclaimed A Game of Thrones, he introduced us to an extraordinary world of wonder, intrigue, and adventure. Above all, the books were extremely unpredictable, especially in a genre where readers have come to expect the intensely predictable.A Song of Ice and Fire takes place in a fictional world in which seasons last for years and end unpredictably. A long prologue was to establish what had happened in the meantime, initially just as one chapter of Aeron Damphair on the Iron Islands at the Kingsmoot. Tyrion is now the Hand of the King and doing damage control in the realm that the tyrants–King Joffrey and his mother Cersei–have created. Two great leaders-Lord Eddard Stark and Robert Baratheon-who held sway over an age of enforced peace are dead .
