About this deal

From a navigational point, this route is a little more challenging than the other walks since the trail is not always obvious. However, aside from the peaks, the trails will be much quieter than those on the Ogwen Valley side. The starting location for this hike is in the secluded village of Croesor, with free parking at the Snowdonia National Park car park. On clear days you can enjoy views of Cnicht and the Moelwynions for most of the walk to Cnicht peak. The trail to Cnicht is well signposted. Continue along from the summit towards Castell y Gwynt. The path climbs down boulders to the left of Castell y Gwynt, before skirting around the base and onto the final challenge.

The Ordnance Survey is Britain’s national mapping agency and has been producing maps for the public since 1801 (For a complete history have a look at: Map of a Nation: A Biography of the Ordnance Survey) When giving a four-figure grid reference, you should always give the eastings number first and the northings number second, very much like when giving the reading of a graph in school, where you give the x coordinate first followed by the y. To get the six-figure grid reference, you have to imagine that the four-figure square is further divided up into tenths. The Snowdon Horseshoe refers to the horseshoe shaped ring of peaks that make up part of the Snowdon Massif. This fabulous ridge walk provides incredible views throughout, making it one of the best hikes in Snowdonia (Eryri). Snowdonia National Park has so much to explore, but this Snowdonia National Park Underground Adventure takes you underground to an old, abandoned slate mine for a unique experience

The Snowdon/Yr Wyddfa Horseshoe While they have produced a huge variety of map related products over the years, their two flagship products remain the Explorer& Landranger map series that cover the entire island of Great Britain.Description: Map sheet number OL17 in the OS Explorer map series is the ideal map for exploring the mountain scenery in Snowdon. This area, famous for its fantastic walking routes, is home to the highest mountain in Wales. Take one of the six well mapped routes to the summit of Mount Snowdon and enjoy the views! From the Ogwen Visitor centre the path starts proper as it ascends into the picturesque Cwm Idwal. Passing around the shore of Llyn Idwal the next stage of the walk is to climb up alongside the Devil’s Kitchen to the plateau above. Walk around Llyn y Cwn before embarking on the loose scree ascent of Glyder Fawr’s northwest face. It’s a steep slog to the summit, however you will be rewarded with fabulous views of the Snowdon Massif (weather permitting!)
