From a navigational point, this route is a little more challenging than the other walks since the trail is not always obvious. However, aside from the peaks, the trails will be much quieter than those on the Ogwen Valley side. The starting location for this hike is in the secluded village of Croesor, with free parking at the Snowdonia National Park car park. On clear days you can enjoy views of Cnicht and the Moelwynions for most of the walk to Cnicht peak. The trail to Cnicht is well signposted. Continue along from the summit towards Castell y Gwynt. The path climbs down boulders to the left of Castell y Gwynt, before skirting around the base and onto the final challenge.

To get the six-figure grid reference, you have to imagine that the four-figure square is further divided up into tenths. The Snowdon Horseshoe refers to the horseshoe shaped ring of peaks that make up part of the Snowdon Massif. This fabulous ridge walk provides incredible views throughout, making it one of the best hikes in Snowdonia (Eryri).
